Safety and Security

Althogh everyting has been done to prevent mishaps and accidents the organizers are required to provide security and safety services for the duration of the event. The Icelandic search and rescue teams are fully equiped to handle any kind of emergency. Units redy to respond are close by at all times and the sweep car is a rescue vehicle specially prepared for off road situations. In adittion to that there is a local team ready to respond to an emergency along the route. The organizers provide the competitors with a satelite tracking device and emergency messenger for fast responce time. Security is in the hands of the marshals of the ICCR, a private security firm, the local search and rescue teams and the police.
